Sermon Outline: I Know Jesus!

In Matthew 26:69-75, we read the account of Peter’s denial.  Ironically, a man that knew Jesus better than most vehemently denied knowing the Lord.  Some today do the exact opposite, claiming to know Jesus when, in truth, they don’t.  Here is a sermon outline on this very topic, which addresses what we can expect in our own lives if we truly know Jesus!

I Know Jesus!

I. Introduction

  1. Matthew 26:69-75
  2. Peter denied knowing Jesus, even though he did.
  3. Many today claim to know Jesus, but they don’t!
  4. We must know Jesus if we wish to follow Him.

 

II. How do we come to know Jesus?

  1. The only way to know Jesus is through the Word of God.
    1. John 1:1-5;14
  2. Jesus is the Word, and the “Word of life”
    1. 1 John 5:7
    2. 1 John 1:1
  3. Without reading the Word, and studying our Bible’s, we cannot come to know Jesus!
    1. John 5:39

 

III. Characteristics of Someone who Knows Jesus

  1. Someone who Knows Jesus will Fear and Obey Him.
    1. Hebrews 10:31
    2. John 14:15
  2. Someone who Knows Jesus will be a Changed Person
    1. Ephesians 4:17-24
    2. Romans 6:1-6
  3. Someone who Knows Jesus will Trust in Jesus
    1. Matthew 6:25-34
    2. Matthew 11:28-30
  4. Someone who knows Jesus will tell others about Him
    1. Jeremiah 20:9
    2. Matthew 10:32-33
  5. Someone who knows Jesus will reflect Jesus in their life
    1. Philippians 1:19-21
    2. Galatians 2:20

 

IV. Conclusion

  1. It should be our goal each day to know Jesus better.
  2. Peter’s final admonition and advice to Christians is this:
    1. 2 Peter 3:18
